Construction of The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour is underway. Aurecon, the building consulting company based in South Africa and Australia, will serve as engineer and architect of record on the project, working closely with The Tower’s creator, Santiago Calatravra, on design and implementation.
Emaar, the developer of the project, confirmed that wind and seismic tests have been performed in preparation for construction of the cable-tied building. The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour will have rotating balconies, several observation decks and a 360-degree observation area, offering sweeping views of the city’s and surroundings. The tower’s unique design will evoke the shape of an Islamic minaret, paying homage to the traditional heritage of the United Arab Emirates. A central concrete column will be surrounded by a net of steel cables, adding to the distinct nature of the design.
The Dubai Creek Harbour project will transform the area into a modern city-within-a-city, with nine districts connected via an integrated transport grid.
